Onneile Nelly Maripe is a visionary leader, Chartered Accountant, and sustainability advocate who combines financial acumen with an unshakable passion for transforming Botswana’s diamond industry through technology and beneficiation. As Founder and CEO of GreenSync Tech, she spearheads a transformative initiative that integrates AI-driven precision machinery, advanced laser cutting systems, and blockchain traceability to revolutionize the diamond cutting and polishing sector in Botswana.

Her leadership reflects a lifelong commitment to capturing more value from Botswana’s diamonds within Botswana, translating the country’s natural wealth into sustainable economic growth, skills transfer, and technological advancement.

Professional Background

Before founding GreenSync Tech, Onneile held senior leadership positions in Botswana’s diamond and finance ecosystem, including her tenure as Treasury Finance Manager at Debswana Diamond Company, where she managed diamond inventory, revenue forecasts, and capital structures exceeding BWP 130 billion. She also led key governance projects such as the Internal Control Over Financial Reporting (ICFR) framework and served as ESG Integration Lead, aligning Debswana’s sustainability goals with global standards such as SASB and IFRS S1/S2.

Beyond the diamond sector, she is the President of the Botswana Institute of Chartered Accountants (BICA) and serves on the ICAEW Council in the UK. Her governance influence extends to her role as an Independent Trustee of the Stanbic Bank Pension Fund and as an Independent Non-Executive Director of JTTM Properties, a majority subsidiary of Letlole La Rona, which is listed on the Botswana Stock Exchange (BSE). In these roles, she provides strategic oversight on ESG compliance, financial integrity, and risk management frameworks.

Vision for GreenSync Tech

Under her leadership, GreenSync Tech is developing the Francistown Diamond Hub, a first-of-its-kind beneficiation facility designed to position Botswana as a global leader in precision diamond processing and ethical sourcing. The hub will:

  • • Create over 500 full-time and 150 training jobs,
  • • Integrate AI and laser machinery to achieve near-zero material waste,
  • • Embed blockchain transparency for traceability from mine to market, and
  • • Foster a knowledge-based economy aligned with Botswana Vision 2036.

Through GreenSync Tech’s innovation subsidiary, DiamondEdge, Onneile is also driving R&D into industrial and alternative diamond applications, including tunneling machinery, industrial tools, medical-grade syringes, and advanced electronics — paving the way for Botswana to become a hub of diamond-based industrial innovation.
